What My Walk This Morning Taught Me

Do you ever feel like you’re spread too thin?
(Uh, yeah, duh Monica, I’m an adult!)
I know. It’s hard being an adult! Can’t we just be kids forever??
Since having my second child six months ago, I’ve felt this particular brand of “pain” and been struggling to balance everything going on.
From running three businesses, managing multiple employees and contractors, raising two kids, buying a new house, selling the old one, packing, moving, living with my in-laws until the new house is ready, trying to make new friends, walking my dog . . . you get it.
Life is busy. We’re all busy.
And in all of this “busy” I’ve completely forgotten about myself.
Sound familiar?
So, this week I completely rearranged my schedule to carve out around 45 minutes at the start of my day just to focus on ME.
This morning I went on a walk and listened to a podcast, which was LOVELY (and productive). And because it was on my calendar, no one needed me and I didn’t feel guilty like I should be doing something else.
By making this a priority and putting it on my calendar, it meant that I could be completely present and enjoy my walk because it’s exactly what I was supposed to be doing.
If you feel burnt out and like you’re giving yourself the scraps at the end of your day . . . try putting some “me time” on your calendar, ideally at the start of your day so you feel refreshed from the start.
