Tips & Tools for Email Deliverability 

Getting into inboxes should be a top priority of every business, it is mine! And it seems like Google is making it harder and harder to accomplish that mission with stricter spam filters and the tricky promotions tab.

There are many reasons why your emails may be getting filtered out of inboxes and into the ether of unopened emails. Here are a few tips to get into inboxes: 

  1. Keep your list “clean.” Make sure you’re only emailing people who are opening and engaging with your content. Consider scrubbing your list of old emails every 30-90 days or enacting a re-engagement campaign to give contacts one last chance to open your emails. 
  2. Avoid spammy words and large dollar amounts. 
  3. Have a good ratio of content to white space. 

If you’ve tried these simple tips for getting into inboxes and you’re not having luck, then here are a few more advanced strategies to try: 

  1. Export and scrub your entire list using NeverBounce or TheChecker.
  2. Sign up for https://deliverabilitydashboard.com (free tool) or upgrade to their paid Deliverability Defender tool to learn more about your deliverability analytics. 
  3. Make sure you have a DMARC, DKIM, and SPF record established for your email. Learn more here
  4. ONLY email contacts who have engaged in the last 30 days.
