One of the best ways to make sure your resolutions and goals don’t falter is to use S.M.A.R.T goals. S.M.A.R.T goals are specific, measurable, actionable, relevant, and time-based goals that help you stay focused and motivated.

To set a S.M.A.R.T goal, start by clearly identifying what you want to accomplish. Try using the S.M.A.R.T acronym, which is a good way of thinking about how specific and actionable your goal should be:

SPECIFIC - Your goals need to be clear so that there's no gray area in regards to whether or not you've achieved them. If your goal isn't crystal clear, you'll likely end up procrastinating on it.

MEASURABLE - You should be able to track and measure your progress so that you know where you stand and can make adjustments as needed.

ACTIONABLE - Your goals need to have a next step, or series of steps that you can take action on. 

RELEVANT - Make sure your goals are relevant to you and what you want to achieve in life or your career. 

TIME-BASED - You need to set a deadline for yourself so that you have a sense of urgency and don't put things off. Without a set deadline or timeline, there's no sense of urgency and the task may never get done!

Once you've determined the time it will take, write down a few of these deadlines on paper and put them somewhere that you'll see them every day. This is an effective way for people who have trouble staying motivated! 

The more specific, relevant, and time-bound your goals are, the more likely you'll be to accomplish them.
