Hiring A Virtual Assistant: When And How
Jul 27, 2021
Are you feeling totally overwhelmed with work? Are you unable to get everything done each day, let alone think about marketing or growth of your business?
It might be time to hire a virtual assistant.
There are many advantages to hiring a virtual assistant, including:
- It can save you time and improve your productivity by outsourcing less “important” tasks to someone else.
- It can save you money compared to hiring an employee because you often don’t need to go through a lengthy recruiting process and you can hire someone on a freelance basis.
- You don’t need space! Saving money on office space is a huge benefit.
There are many ways to find and hire a virtual assistant. Here are some methods I’d recommend:
- Hiring previous interns. Having an internship program in your company can be a great way to train people on your business while providing valuable mentorship and work experience. I’ve found that previous interns have made some of my best freelancers later on because they’re already familiar with the company and processes.
- Put a job notice out to your email list. You never know who in your world may secretly want to work for you! These are going to be some of the most passionate freelancers you can find.
- Put a notice on Upwork to find talent with specific skills you’re looking for. This is more of a traditional way to find talent with a job posting.
- Use HireMyMom.com to find a stay at home mom who wants to work from home. I’ve never tried this site, but I’ve heard great things and plan to use it soon!
Hiring a virtual assistant is a great way to save you 10-20 hours per week or even more! If you’re not sure what you’d like your VA to do, make a list of all the tasks you do on a daily or weekly basis that you feel are not the best use of your time. Start there!
