Monica’s Monthly Book Club March Selection: Everything Is Figureoutable by Marie Forleo

Anyone who knows me knows how much I adore Marie Forleo. She is my entrepreneurial inspiration in many ways. When I started Big Leap Brands, and specifically this book club, I knew I’d want to write about her book first. I am eager to hear your thoughts on “Everything Is Figureoutable” but since I started this book club, I guess I will share first  :-) 

I was initially drawn to Marie many moons ago when she started talking about her key phrase and mantra for just about everything. That phrase is “Everything Is Figureoutable.” I was like wow, I like that. And it’s true. I’ve always been the person who solves the puzzle and comes up with solutions. Marie’s phrase derives from her mother’s hard work and determination to make her household run. Her mother is a solution based woman... Marie is a solution based woman.... and I find that incredibly relatable. 

In this book, Marie discusses how easy it is to feel skeptical about accomplishing something that feels “too out of reach” or “way out of your comfort zone.” We tend to discount ourselves before we decide to activate our full power and ingenuity.

She shares how her one single phrase has impacted thousands of people by using a 3-Rule Framework to “Everything is Figureoutable” 

Rule #1. All problems and all dreams are figureoutable 

Rule #2. If a problem isn’t figureoutable it’s not a problem, it’s a fact of life 

Rule #3. You may not care enough to solve a particular problem or reach a particular dream and that’s okay! Go find something you do care about and return to Rule #1 

The sheer simplicity and structure to these rules gave me clear instructions and the permission I needed to start thinking like an entrepreneur and create the damn thing I have always wanted to. Throughout the book, she reaffirms there’s always room for more and there’s always room for you. No one brings your unique perspective or gifts other than you. 

My biggest takeaway from this book is to believe in yourself and continue to activate the power within even when it doesn’t feel “figureoutable.”
