Ambiance is everything

When you look around your workspace, what do you feel? 

Are you working in a cramped and cluttered corner or does your workspace make you feel like the creative force you truly are? Does it reflect who you are or who you want to be? 

Psychologists believe that ambiance can have a direct impact on the happiness and moods of a person, which in turn can affect productivity and creative output. And I believe that us creative types are even more susceptible to our environment than the average person. 

I know I am. 

If you’re relegated to some corner of your home and have a workspace that’s been duct taped together to make barely enough room for your work . . . then you may start to believe that your work doesn’t matter as much as you’d like it to. You won’t take your work as seriously or invest your time, energy, and yes, even money, the way you should to grow. 

On the other hand, if you set up a space that reflects who you are, including some of your favorite colors, patterns, lighting . . . then you’re going to feel a heck of a lot better about your work. And it doesn’t have to take up a lot of space! If you’re working from your bedroom or couch, find a few ways to infuse your personal style into the space with accent wall colors, pillows, artwork, rugs . . . whatever!

When I created my home office I spent a lot of time and creative energy into designing it in a way that reflects my personality. I like eclectic and colorful designs, fun patterns, and bright colors (have you seen my website, lol). Every day when I enter my space it feels like a tiny sanctuary where I can be creative and do my best work. 

One simple way any entertainment entrepreneur can set themselves up for success each day, is to carve out a sacred space to work and show up ready and willing to invest in your success.
