3 Companies. 1 Favorite Organization Tool.

One of my biggest struggles as an entrepreneur is staying organized.
I’m a good ole’ fashioned paper and pen note taker kinda gal, and that just doesn’t cut it at the speed and level I need to work at nowadays.
And the pressure is on because I have multiple full-time employees and two kids counting on me these days to bring in the revenue and deliver on the promises I make each and every day.
So, staying organized is essential and something I’m always improving.
One of the best things I’ve done to get and stay organized is use Asana to track projects and manage my LONG to do list.
Asana works in workspaces, teams, projects, tasks, and subtasks.
I have one workspace where I manage all of my businesses. Think of a workspace almost as an account, and I don’t want to have to toggle in and out of multiple accounts, so I have one account where I manage all of my businesses as teams.
This allows me to create one team per business, so I have a team for Big Leap Brands, Curious Custom, and Broadway Murder Mysteries. You can invite employees or other users to join your teams to keep each team relevant to who works for you.
Then under each team you have projects, and I like to have the following projects for each business:
- Executive: high level tasks, company goals, etc.
- Marketing: I keep my marketing calendar here, map out specific marketing initiatives, keep track of stats and recurring tasks related to marketing
- Product Development: New product/service brainstorming, product management, etc.
Then I also have company specific projects for each business that include things like sales pipelines, client management, SOPs, etc.
And finally, within each project there are sections and tasks. Sections act as headlines and tasks are where you actually task out each specific thing that needs to be done, assign it to a person, and give it a due date.
It’s easy in Asana to look at a calendar view or a list, sort by tasks due each day, and manage everything on your plate in one place.
So, if you’re a busy entrepreneur like me, check out Asana to get and stay on track!
